Americans spend $41 billion on pets

This is a great article on consumer spending on pet related items from MSNBC. If you haven’t already focused on this area of retail, now is definitely the time.

Annual spending on pets is seen to increase to $52 billion in the next two years.

That is more than we spend on Movies - ($10.8 billion)

63% of US homes have at least one pet

We have 88 million cats as pets

and 75 million dogs

Pet products now aim to make people feel they’re being extra good to their little ones—much as toymakers have long encouraged parents to spoil kids. Along with doggie spas, there are mobile pet-grooming vans, pedicure services, professional dog walkers, and massage therapy for animals.
