As you know, MyWinesDirect is different from other wine websites because of our extraordinary screening process. Our experts and random tasting groups separate the duds from the great, so that each bottle featured on our site is sure to please. We hope these new banners get that point across.

These images are available to you through Linkshare, so please log in to grab the html to these banners, as well as our March coupon offer for $10 off for new customers.

It takes experts, panels, and a plate of cheese cubes to bring only the best to MyWinesDirect’s customers

Yesterday I had the honor of being a part of the process that makes MyWinesDirect so unique. .. And let me tell you, it was a delicious experience.

Every few weeks MyWinesDirect gathers their bottles of wine that they’ve discovered from tiny wineries near and far, and has experts screen them. These experts have a trained palate and know exactly what is unacceptable and what is extraordinary. They’re very selective and they manage to rule out over 75% of the bottles being considered. Thankfully, that’s when I got to step in.

As part of a tasting panel that met yesterday in New York, I was delighted to partake in a blind screening of an assortment of reds and whites from France, Australia, California and Chile.

Tasting each one and carefully noting whether it was enjoyable, was so much fun. It was quite interesting to see the range in likes and dislikes among the group and even more fun to experience when a wine was found overwhelmingly pleasing to us all. After tasting about 30 different wines, I’d say only about 7 wines were clear winners with unanimous praise and the highest marks. It’s pretty cool how 100 wines turn into 7, but the screening doesn’t end there.

Another panel group made up of regular folk, just like the panel I sat in on was, will soon meet up on the West coast and rate these same wines - blind to our results.

From that point, all the results are compared and only a handful of wines will receive the final nod. It’s a long and constant process, all to make sure that every wine showcased on MyWinesDirect is an absolute pleaser, an absolute delight and a true winner.

..As for me, I have my fingers crossed for a certain merlot 2001 out of Australia to make it to the site. In the meantime, there’s lots more exploring to do on MyWinesDirect — knowing now, first hand, that each and every bottle sold on MyWinesDirect is already a favorite to many!
